This training will provide basic information about parental rights under IDEA, including confidentiality, notice, consent, surrogate parents, free and appropriate public education (FAPE), least restrictive environment (LRE), evaluations and dispute resolution methods such as mediation and due process.
Learn how to use effective communication skills to develop a partnership with your child's IEP/IFSP team. Get tips for preparing for school meetings and how to be an effective member of the team.
In this presentation, we will discuss an overview of the components involved in the transition to adulthood, what to focus on based on the age of your child and how to develop an Action Plan for your child’s transition to adulthood.
Self care is a vital component of parenting that is often neglected. During this month's PEG, representatives from NCH PAD Emily Hornsby and Jamie Krasingor will be sharing about the services that NCHPAD has to offer families with youth and young adults with disabilities. They will also be teaching us about mindfulness and the importance and self care. Emily will be leading us in a mindfulness exercise!
