The Teen Years
Autism From Late Childhood to Young Adulthood
As autistic children become young adults, their needs change. Their educational and life goals may shift as they start learning the skills necessary for transitioning into adulthood. Depending on each young adult’s unique needs, that may mean arranging appropriate housing, finding a job, or even going to college.
This can be an exciting time for children and families, but it can also introduce new challenges – especially for families in rural or underserved parts of Georgia. This section discusses strategies and resources to help young adults with autism succeed as they move into this new stage of life.
