Book Club for Adults

The group meets online every month to discuss a specific book (fiction or nonfiction). Post-high school Autistic adults are welcome to attend the meetings, whether or not they have finished the book selected for the meeting.

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Interest Group for Adults

This interest group is intended for post-high school adults who fulfill the player pre-requisites outlined below:

Participants need to have played Dungeons and Dragons before either at AANE or elsewhere.
They must also be familiar with character creation, general rules of D&D Edition 5, cooperation within a team, and following campaign rules and storyline.
Each participant is expected to attend all 8 meetings in order to help his/her team advance as far as possible in the campaign.
This interest series will be using a campaign selected by the Dungeon Masters. Participants must agree to follow the rules of the campaign at all times.
Because this is an interactive/collaborative game. Participants need to be able to participate fully in each game session.

Support Group for Adults Over 50

Come join other adults age 50+ with autism or similar Neurodiverse profiles in an atmosphere of support and understanding. The group meets on the second Friday of every month.

Support Group for Teens (15-19)

This group meets on the second Saturday of the month and is for individuals (ages 15-19) who are Autistic or who suspect they are. All AANE-facilitated support groups provide information, connection, and community where participants can share similar issues and concerns and celebrate successes. Groups are designed for the teens only – parents and other family members should not attend the groups.

This support group is for Autistic adults (18+) who are post k-12. Through this support group, members can connect with a variety of participants.

AANE support groups give members an opportunity to celebrate successes and support each other through difficulties. Common topics of discussion are:

Masking/camouflaging
Sensory sensitivities/overloads
Relationships
Self-care
Disclosure

Join us monthly for an support group that offers Autistic women, age 50+ an opportunity to come together to explore issues such as:

Receiving a diagnosis later in life
Masking and Camouflaging
Finding Support; Building and Maintaining Relationships
Challenges Post Menopause; Decline of Executive Functioning
Mid-Life Identity
Managing Stress and Coping Strategies
Self-Care

Executive function tools to support independent living

A wide range of assistive technology (AT) can be used to support teens and adults with disabilities to complete tasks at home or at work. We will demonstrate apps and devices that help with reminders, timers, and visual and audio prompts. Join us to learn about tools that can help individuals function more independently at home or on the job.

Social/Support Group for Teens (17-19)

AANE is offering an 8-week virtual group for Autistic and Neurodivergent teens aged 17-19. This group is designed to provide teens with a safe space to feel connected to and engage with each other while practicing their social skills in a facilitated setting. The group will be developed based on the interests and needs of the members.

Introduction to Autism for Adults

A presentation and discussion for Autistic adults to come and explore their understanding of autism through a neurological lens. We will discuss common misconceptions, the Autistic identity, and common Autistic traits, strengths, and challenges. This presentation is given by an Autistic adult and a Neurodivergent ally. You might enjoy this presentation and discussion if you are newly diagnosed, considering whether you may be autistic, or if you have only explored autism through a deficit lens in the past.

Jackbox Game Night for Adults

Join us for camaraderie and fun! We will be playing a variety of Jackbox games that we will select as a group! Most games fit about 8 participants, but are still a blast to watch! We rotate through both games and players to have a great time together!

Multi-Session Support Group for Parents of Tweens (grades 4-9)

Description
This group is designed for parents and other adult family members of Autistic children in the tween range (grades 4-9). The multi-session support group provides a guaranteed spot over a set number of sessions, which creates an opportunity to develop deeper connections and receive extensive peer support from the same group members.

Multi-Session Support Group for Women (40-60)

Description
This support group is designed for Autistic women (40-60) looking to build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. This multi-session support group also gives women an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations and lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories. Common topics of discussion are:
