Support Groups also called Share Groups are the backbone of FOCUS, the first program ever offered. Share Groups meet monthly (September to May) in several different locations around metro Atlanta so parents can meet other parents and share tips, fears, and joys. Parent volunteers facilitate the groups, keeping them positive, constructive, and uplifting.
Eligibility
Be a parent/caregiver of a child/young adult with a physical and/or developmental disabilities, including rare genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, autism, and Down syndrome.
Parents will review and sign COVID-19 acknowledgements and the guidelines required by FOCUS for the Share Group Season before attending their first meeting.

Monthly support group meeting for parents of adults with autism over the age of 18 who are out of high school. Social Support group is offered for adults out of high school with higher ability level or Asperger's. No childcare is offered.

Join your Lekotek friends for a fun, wheelchair accessible fishing outing at Island Ford--Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. A park ranger and volunteers will offer a basic introduction to fishing to catch fish in the pond. The dock has a railing and is wheelchair accessible. There will also be an aquarium at the dock to view the fish (and turtles) that we catch before we release them back into the pond. Information about a free Acess Pass (for individuals with a disability) for National Parks will be available on site.

A great opportunity to be social and make new friends as you move from table to table to get to know new people. Table Talk Jr. is $25 and includes meal and a drink. TIME IS 12 to 2 PM. A new social and craft night, ArtReach, is offered the 3rd Thursday of each month. in person focusing on art, 6:30-8:00 pm. This group is held at the Hudgens Center for Art and Learning in Duluth for women on the spectrum.

A day at Atlanta venues is a typical outing for a typical family. But a family with a child with significant disabilities might never consider such an outing; their child may not be able to spend the entire day to justify the cost of the tickets.
Fee:
$25 per person
Meal only ticket $10 (season pass holders)
Children who are 2 years old and younger can attend for free.

What to Expect: We will have a late lunch available under the giant pavilion for all of our families and the cost of the meal and parking will be included in each person’s ticket. More information will be sent out closer to the date of the event. Lunch will be served under the Peachtree Pavilion between 1PM-3PM. Menu: Fried Chicken with Rolls, Vegetarian Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Rolls, Ice Cream Bars, Coca Cola Products, Gluten Free/Vegetarian Option

Registration is required, we do not accept “Walk-ins” at this event.
Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Your tickets are not secured until your payment/ deposit for them has been received and you receive a confirmation email that you have secured tickets.
You will only be able to register those who are in your family in our system/those who are in your immediate family. FOCUS does not have availability for other friends or family to attend.
While fees are charged for activities, few partial scholarships are available. Partial scholarships are awarded based on financial need.
3rd Party Waivers are not accepted for Family Activities.
Unless Six Flags has to close for the entire day due to inclement weather, the tickets must be used on May 19th.
Cancelation: FOCUS will refund your event fee, minus the deposit fee for all cancellations made two weeks prior to the date of the event. Any cancelation within two weeks of event date will receive no refund.
FOCUS staff will not be onsite after 2:30PM

Siblings of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have specific concerns and needs related to life with autism. Spectrum offers a special group just for siblings ages 5-12 one Sunday afternoon month facilitated by trained leaders, adult siblings. The program involves group discussion, arts & crafts and games and utilizes the SibShop curriculum by Don Meyer, which was specifically designed for children with siblings with special needs.
Program Description :
Sibshops are pedal-to-the-metal events where they will meet other sibs, have fun, laugh, talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs, play some great games, learn something about the services their brothers and sister receive, and have some more fun.
Spectrum Saturday Social Club will provide a safe space for adults who are on the autism spectrum. Participants who are out of high school and are 18 years or older, have independent self help skills, and are able to function with little supervision. The group will meet on Saturdays from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm where they will play games, enjoy karaoke, or watch movies with friends. The club will be supervised by professional staff that will facilitate the members to help make new friends and strengthen social skills.
This will be like a gym membership where you pay $200 for 10 week session to participate one Saturday or all Saturdays in a quarter. You must register but then can attend as often or as little as you want. Registration is now open!
The Autism Conference & Expo is an annual event that provides an opportunity for sharing knowledge and resources about supports for individuals with autism and their families in Georgia.
