  • Shine On 5K + Fun Run

    This uplifting event kicks off our Autism Acceptance Celebration and invites runners, walkers, families, and friends of all abilities to come together in support of Kalos Academy's Building Campaign. Our mission is to raise $2.5 million to build a dedicated school for children with autism and other learning differences.

    5K Race – For experienced runners ready to shine their brightest on a certified course

    Fun Run/Walk – A disability-inclusive and family-friendly run/walk designed for all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome. Strollers, wheelchairs, and assistive devices included!

  • Transformational Change: Creating Meaningful Individual Service Plans (Tifton)

    UGA Tifton Conference Center 15 RDC Road, Tifton, GA

    DBHDD, in partnership with Sangha Unity Network (SUN), will continue the work of Transformational Change through a series of interactive, one-day workshops focused on creating more meaningful Individual Service Plans using the new ISP template.

    These workshops are designed to support a shift in thinking about the ISP, from a required document to a person-centered tool that reflects the aspirations, strengths, preferences, and choices of each person receiving services. Participants will learn how to facilitate and develop ISPs that are grounded in person-centered engagement and aligned with the intent of the HCBS Settings Rule and NOW/COMP waivers.

    This event is hosted by Georgia Department of Behavoral Health and Developmental Disabilites and it will be located at both of the Clarence Brown Conference Center & the UGA Tifton Conference Center.

    In a world that expects social connection, FAST's new SPARK Groups aim to help tweens, older teens & young adults on the autism spectrum gain confidence, build friendships, and experience community all while preparing for real-life success. From navigating relationships to handling interviews or dating, SPARK is your place to grow!

    These meetings, led by licensed speech and language pathologists, offer a safe, supportive space to build real-world social and communication skills. Whether it’s navigating group conversations, managing emotions, or preparing for work/college environments, SPARK groups help empower individuals on the autism spectrum to connect with confidence. Topics and speaking points will vary for each meeting, ranging from everyday hang outs to preparing for adult responsibilities.

  • FREE Speech, Language, and Feeding Screenings!

    Community Christian Academy 1202 N. Hutchinson Ave, Adel, GA

    ATTENTION ADEL-COOK COUNTY FAMILIES!
    Southern Therapy Solutions (STS) and Community Christian Academy (CCA) have teamed up to provide free speech, language, hearing, and feeding screenings to children and teens ages 18 and younger.

    Screenings will be conducted by licensed STS Speech-Language Pathologists from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at CCA, which is located at 1202 N. Hutchinson Ave. in Adel.

    Our goal is to ensure Adel-Cook County families have access to high quality healthcare services. If you have any questions, please call our main office in Valdosta at (229) 560-6944.
