    Healthy relationship boundaries are an important skill for us all. We are seeing more and more examples of those who have crossed lines in our culture. Even though people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are sexual beings, just like everyone, they also need the information and skills to navigate these waters and learn what's okay and not okay in various settings.

    This webinar will explore tips and tools for addressing sexuality one-on-one with the individuals you work with. We will explore why this topic can be difficult to approach and useful tools that will help you become more comfortable and confident and communicate about this sensitive topic.

  • Building the Team, Who will be there for your loved one in the future?

    Planning for the future means sharing responsibilities, building backup plans, and starting important conversations early. This webinar will help parents, caregivers, and professionals understand key roles such as Legal Guardian, Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy, Representative Payee, and Special Needs Trustee, along with the roles of Care Coordinators, Self-Direction Brokers, and natural supports. Participants will learn how to create a strong, sustainable Circle of Support that reduces burden and ensures long-term stability for individuals with disabilities. This series is led by James Traylor, President of Rivent Partners and a nationally recognized advocate and presenter. Many of the programs at Starbridge are funded through the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). We are required to maintain documentation which shows that individuals who receive services are eligible for those services. Your information is kept confidential.   • Support Group for Fathers of Autistic Individuals

    Fathers’ Group is a place where fathers can share their experiences, support one another, and build their toolbox to parent more confidently. We will be having a good conversation over Zoom.

    Parenting can be demanding, frustrating, and at times stressful long after the child is grown. Autistic children can often have unique challenges. Parent Support Groups provide feedback, support, and perspective from peers on a variety of common issues. Groups are meant strictly for parents and do not include the Autistic child.

Together, we’ll unravel the mysteries of the tiles, decode the NMJL card, learn the art of dealing, and “dance” through the Charleston—plus so much more.   • Supporting Apprentice Success: Unlocking the Power of American Workers with Disabilities through Apprenticeship

    Apprenticeships unlock career pathways. They combine paid work experience with classroom instruction, preparing workers for high-demand jobs in high growth, high demand industries, including manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. These are sectors central to national competitiveness and economic stability. To grow and to thrive in today’s economy, employers in all industries need a highly skilled workforce. Supporting Americans with disabilities as apprentices helps industries and the nation stay competitive globally. The Office of Disability Employment Policy’s Job Accommodation Network, known as JAN, and Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability, known as EARN, are your partners in supporting apprentice success. EARN will share strategies on how to leverage youth and workers with disabilities as apprentices to meet workforce needs and boost productivity. JAN will share how accommodations support the journey of an apprentice from a learner to skilled professional. Reasonable accommodations ensure apprenticeships are available for all Americans, including those with disabilities. Learn more about what accommodations work for pre-apprenticeships and work-based learning programs, the role of Registered Apprenticeships where workers earn while they learn, and how accommodations support the employment journey.

  • Social/Support Group for Trans, Non-Binary, and Gender Expansive Teens

    AANE is offering a 8-week virtual group for trans, non-binary, and gender expansive Autistic or Neurodivergent teens aged 14-19. This group is designed to provide teens with a safe space to feel connected to and engage with each other while practicing their social skills in a facilitated setting. The group will be developed based on the interests and needs of the members.

    Please join us for a virtual trivia event. We will be playing trivia together by joining a live virtual event outside of AANE. We have historically done very well and no matter what, we have a good time.
