  • Multi-Session Support Group for Women (40-60)

    This multi-session support group is designed for Autistic women (40-60) looking to build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. This support group also gives women an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations and lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories. Common topics of discussion are:

    Masking/camouflaging
    Sensory sensitivities/overloads
    Relationships
    Self-care
    Empathy
    Advanced registration is required.

  • Parent Support Group – Parents of Children

    Spectrum Autism Support Center 2997 Main St, Duluth, GA, United States

    Spectrum hosts monthly parent meetings the first and second Thursday of each month featuring guest speakers who share their knowledge and expertise regarding a variety of topics related to the Autism Spectrum Disorder. First Thursday of the month meetings are offered Sept-May for parents of school age children. Breakout sessions are also offered for Dads, parents of preschoolers, and in Spanish only.

    Social Skills programs are offered at the same time for children ages 5-22. Childcare is offered for those under 5. Second Thursday of the month meetings are for parents of adults out of high school and for adults on the spectrum.

    Who should attend?

    This free masterclass series is for families, professionals, college students, or anyone else interested in learning about autism. This masterclass series is a companion to our About Autism in Toddlers online course that is free to the public.

    What will we cover?

    This masterclass series will help you learn about the core diagnostic features and early signs of autism in toddlers and see early intervention in action.

    Each masterclass will cover the following agenda:

    What is autism and what are the early signs in toddlers?
    Watch video clips together — Practice observing early signs of autism and see early intervention in action
    How Autism Navigator online courses and tools can help you

    We will feature new content and videos each masterclass to cover key topics in About Autism in Toddlers.

    When is this scheduled?

    This masterclass series is scheduled once a month and continues year-round. Join anytime, attend once or come back when you can.

    Day: 1st Friday of each month (barring holidays)
    Time: 12:00 noon to 1:00pm (Eastern Time)

    Why is attending important?

    By attending, you are joining a community of learners watching videos together and sharing their experiences, questions, and encouragement. We cannot record our masterclasses because we show photos and videos of our families, so make sure to attend.

    This multi-session support group is designed for women (35-50) who are Autistic. Through this support group, women (35-50) can build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. AANE multi-session support groups for women also give women an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations. It also lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories. Common topics of discussion are:

  • Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Interest Group for Adults

    This interest group is intended for post-high school adults who fulfill the player pre-requisites outlined below:

    Participants need to have played Dungeons and Dragons before either at AANE or elsewhere.
    They must also be familiar with character creation, general rules of D&D Edition 5, cooperation within a team, and following campaign rules and storyline.
    Each participant is expected to attend all 8 meetings in order to help his/her team advance as far as possible in the campaign.
    This interest series will be using a campaign selected by the Dungeon Masters. Participants must agree to follow the rules of the campaign at all times.
    Because this is an interactive/collaborative game. Participants need to be able to participate fully in each game session.

  • Support Group for Gender Diverse Adults

    Recurring

    This group is for autistic adults who are also nonbinary, trans, and/or questioning. This group is not for folks who identify with the gender they were assigned at birth (cisgender). You may enjoy this group if you feel the need or desire for community to discuss issues relating to neurodiversity and gender identity. We will both celebrate successes and support each other through difficulties. This multi-session support group meets for 8 sessions, every other week. Advanced registration is required.

    Second Thursday of the month: A support group meeting for parents of adults with autism over the age of 18 who are out of high school. Social Support group is offered for adults out of high school with higher ability level or Asperger's. No childcare is offered.

  • Support Group for Adults Over 50

    Come join other adults age 50+ with autism or similar Neurodiverse profiles in an atmosphere of support and understanding. The group meets on the second Friday of every month. Advanced registration is required.

  • Support Group for Teens (15-19)

    This group meets on the second Saturday of the month and is for individuals (ages 15-19) who are Autistic or who suspect they are. All AANE-facilitated support groups provide information, connection, and community where participants can share similar issues and concerns and celebrate successes. Groups are designed for the teens only – parents and other family members should not attend the groups. Advanced registration is required.
