  • Workshop – Autism and the IEP for Caregivers of Autistic Children/Teens/Young Adults (through age 22)

    Join AANE for a 90-minute workshop with Q&A for parents and guardians on the ins and outs of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for autistic students. Learn what our staff look for when conducting IEP reviews. This workshop is not state specific. Topics include::

  • Workshop – Hacks, Strategies, & Supports for Autistic Adults

    Description
    As a follow-up to our Intro to Autism Workshop, this 90-minute workshop will go through practical ways Autistic adults can find the support that they need. We will discuss how to determine what you need, and then some practical ideas on how to meet those needs. This will include possible service providers and how to find them, as well as some hacks and strategies that might work for you.
    Note that this is different from our benefits conference, which gives comprehensive information on how to get services covered by state benefits. This webinar is also open to parents, caregivers, and loved ones of Autistic adults.

    Join us for camaraderie and fun! We will be playing a variety of Jackbox games that we will select as a group! Most games fit about 8 participants, but are still a blast to watch! We rotate through both games and players to have a great time together!

    Multi-Session Small Group Employment Coaching for Experienced Workers

    If you are experienced in your career and are looking for a new job, career, promotion or just ways to make your current job work better for you, this is a coaching course that could be helpful. This practical coaching course will cover all aspects of job hunting/maintaining by building your knowledge weekly, helping you identify action steps and supporting you to work through any worries or issues you face, with the help of a workbook. We’ll cover conflict, difficult conversations and feedback too.

    You will be provided with guidance, training, accountability and inspiration over the 8 weeks to help you feel more confident, leaving you with a personalized roadmap for getting what you want in your working life.

  • LifeMAP Clinical Hour

    Description
    These meetings have been established to create a group discussion where LifeMAP coaches, Intensive Autism Coach Training (IACT) graduates, and Autism Professional Coaches Association (APCA) members can share ideas and strategies on how to assist clients in various situations in coaching sessions. We also have the added guidance and expertise of coaches who have been with the program since its inception and these meetings have been designed to help coaches better meet a variety of needs with our clients. They are very informative sessions that have been well received by our coaching staff. We catch up on any new training ideas and/or workshops that address issues that are common topics of discussion.
    How do we best serve our community?
    When do we collaborate with therapists, family members, guardians, teachers, etc.?
    When and where can we be present to advocate for our clients, such as on the job, school, counselors?
    Follow up distribution of notes to those who attend with information on what was addressed and listing any material on support services that may be of assistance, (ie. various platforms where clients can join, such as virtual games, support, and social groups, and educational sites (ie. Khan Academy) and so forth.

  • Support Group for BIPOC Adults

    Description

    This is our support group for Autistic people of color (18+). These spaces are peer-led and provide an opportunity for participants to explore how their multiple identities show up and address their specific needs, by sharing experiences and offering support to one another. We are running these meetings through the winter and then will determine the next steps for future programming based on interest and feedback.

    This closed group is designed for parents and family members of Autistic transition-age youth (18-22). This group is limited to 15 participants for caregivers to connect with one another and share information.

    Multi-Session Support Group for Adults

    Virtual

    A closed support group has the same group members (up to 12) for a set number of sessions (8). Closed support groups are ideal for adults who are looking for deeper connections and more extensive peer support from group members. For the best support group experience, closed group members should plan on attending all 8 meetings in the series. This group offers a safe environment where Autistic adults can talk with like-minded people, share issues and concerns, and celebrate successes. Common topics include: disclosure, self-advocacy, and relationships.
