This single-session group meets on the first Saturday of each month and is for post-high school adults who are Autistic or who suspect they are Autistic. Formerly known as the Portland Maine Support Group for Adults, this group meets online and adults anywhere are welcome to attend.

Come learn the basics of tabletop roleplaying from an experienced Dungeon Master. During this 8 week campaign of Dungeons and Dragons using the D&D 2024 Handbook you will be guided through an adventure that will introduce you to the gameplay and storytelling of the world’s most popular roleplaying game! This is a great way to get involved in a new hobby that will give you the skills and confidence to join games with more experienced players and open the doors to a huge community. No previous tabletop gaming experience required. Players will need to be able to simultaneously use zoom and navigate D&D Beyond (website), with verbal and written directions. If you are unsure if this group is a good fit for you, or you are in need of specific accommodations, please email groups@aane.org. Please note that these dates are subject to fluctuation. You will have one set up 1:1 meeting with the facilitator and 7-8 group meetings of game play.

2 events,This group focuses on adults that are looking for a positive and safe environment to foster social development. The group meets twice a month (once at the Spectrum meetings and one social outing a month) with 1-2 adult leaders who are trained in helping people on the Autism Spectrum. Adults who have HFA/Asperger’s Syndrome and are reaching out for help and/or seeking friendships with people with similar issues and interests are welcome! For more information about this group, please contact info@spectrumautism.org. Members of this group need to be out of high school in order to join the group. Our current members are generally high school graduates, attend college, or are working. Those attending the outings must be able to do so with minimal supervision (1 to 10).

Whether you’re currently working, looking for a job or recuperating from burn out, this group is a chance to receive support, share what works for you and learn from each other, on all things related to employment.

Do you enjoy crafts such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, and embroidery? AANE has created a new online group for you! The group is available to Autistic adults regardless of skill level or diagnosis. The group will meet every second Sunday of the month on Zoom. Each meeting will have time to work on individual projects and get feedback from group members.

This group is a place for those over 50, to discuss a previously agreed to topic and share the unique concerns and issues that come with later awareness, in an atmosphere of support and understanding. The social hour meets from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM ET and the support group meets from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET.

This is an hour-long support group for Autistic LGBTQIA+ adults. It is a safe space to find community, share stories with, or gather support if needed from folks of similar experiences. This group hopes to provide support and comfort. The group is facilitated by a trans person on the spectrum. No autism (or related) diagnoses are required, nor is certainty about your queer identity. This is a space to explore all those things. It is also for all post-high school adults over 18 years old.

1 event,The Animated Minds ATL is a welcoming community for autistic adults ages 18 and older who share a passion for animation and visual storytelling. This program is designed for adults who do not require support or supervision and who enjoy creating and sharing their work with others. Participants gather to talk about animation, draw, create, and connect with others who share similar interests. Members often bring their own creations to share with the group — including characters, animated shorts, comic books, and other visual storytelling projects. The club celebrates creativity, imagination, and collaboration in a supportive environment. Each month, participants also have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers with expertise in animation, art, film, voice acting, and more, who share their skills and creative process with the group.

Unwind in the AANE movie discussion group! This is a group for those who enjoy movies to talk about them with other Neurodivergent participants. There isn’t a specific theme or film per session, the group functions as an informal space to discuss a wide variety of your favorite (or least favorite!) movies. Both verbal and typed discussion allowed and encouraged!

ALIVE is a two part online workshop for LGBTQIA+ Autistic adults. One part is an 8 week curriculum based workshop and the other is an 8 week support group experience. There is a three month break between the parts. This group always meets on the first Thursday of the month and is for post-high school Autistic adults who are interested in discussing and exploring their gender in a supportive setting. Most people who attend identify as transgender, nonbinary, and/or genderfluid, and some are questioning their gender identity or gender roles. Join us to share stories and perspectives, and to get support. No autism diagnosis or certainty about gender identity is required to attend. This is a safe place to explore intersecting identities.
