Keeping It Real: Honest Conversations, Stronger School Teams: Strong partnerships between families and educators are built on open communication, mutual respect, and trust. This session will explore practical ways to foster meaningful, ongoing dialogue between home and school. Learn how to ask the right questions, address concerns early, and communicate with clarity.
Every school day counts. There is a strong relationship between student absences and student achievement. In this course you will learn about the importance of attendance and how it can significantly impact your child. We will look at some of the obstacles related to attendance and how you can overcome these barriers.

Tune in to take a look at 504 plans. Section 504 is federal civil rights law under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) administers Section 504—not the State. A 504 plan is designed to give students with disabilities or medical conditions equal access to the general education curriculum. We will explore accommodations and how they can be used to level the playing field for learners.

Living Well in the Community (LWIC) is a FREE, peer-led workshop series created by and for people with disabilities who want to build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Facilitated by trained LIFE staff, this interactive program helps you strengthen practical life skills, discover new strategies for self-care, and connect with others on the same journey toward wellness and independence.
What to Expect:
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM - First session is 10/13/2025
(Each session includes a 15-minute break)
Format: Hybrid (join in person or online via Zoom)
Length: 5 weeks | 10 total sessions
Location: Virtually via Zoom (link will be provided upon registration) and in person at LIFE, Inc. – 4811 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA
Who Can Join:
Any adult with a documented disability - but you must live within LIFE’s service area*.

Did you know there is a difference between general discipline procedures and discipline procedures for students who have disabilities? Children who have disabilities have specific rights under state and federal laws when it comes to suspensions and school discipline. This webinar will provide an overview of these rights and the process used for discipline and suspensions. Join Jane Gabriele, Esq, from Legal Assistance of Western New York to learn about school suspension and understand your child’s rights related to discipline. Registration is required.
Although commonly used, studies show that suspensions are largely ineffective in addressing challenging behaviors and often hinder academic learning and skill-development. This workshop will inform parents about the requirements districts must follow when suspending students and provide advocacy strategies to support student engagement at school.

The webinar will also guide attendees on how to refer Vocational Rehabilitation participants, navigate the application process, and leverage AccessTECH resources to support successful employment outcomes in the tech industry.
