Multi-Session Support Group for Women (18+)

Virtual

This bi-weekly “closed” support group is designed for autistic and similarly neurodivergent adult women (18+) who are looking to build an ongoing connection with other women. The group is primarily a space to learn about and discuss neurodivergence, and to explore related topics chosen by the group. Topics may include:

Masking/camouflaging
Sensory Sensitivities and Sensory Overload
Relationships
Self Care
Empathy
The group is structured to encourage everyone to share and participate in the discussion, with respect for all members prioritized.

Multi-Session Social/Support Group for Young Adults (19-23)

Description
AANE is offering an 8-week virtual group for Autistic or Neurodivergent young adults aged 19-23. This group is designed to provide young adults navigating the transition between teenage years and adulthood a safe space to feel connected to and engage with each other while practicing their social skills in a facilitated setting. The group will be developed based on the interests and needs of the members.

Multi-Session Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Interest Group for Adults

Virtual

This interest group is intended for post-high school adults who fulfill the player pre-requisites outlined below:

Participants need to have played Dungeons and Dragons before either at AANE or elsewhere.
They must also be familiar with character creation, general rules of D&D Edition 5, cooperation within a team, and following campaign rules and storyline.
Each participant is expected to attend all 8 meetings in order to help his/her team advance as far as possible in the campaign.
This interest series will be using a campaign selected by the Dungeon Masters. Participants must agree to follow the rules of the campaign at all times.
Because this is an interactive/collaborative game. Participants need to be able to participate fully in each game session.

Support Group – Gender Identity for Adults

Virtual

This group always meets on the first Thursday of the month and is for post-high school Autistic adults who are interested in discussing and exploring their gender in a supportive setting. Most people who attend identify as transgender, nonbinary, and/or genderfluid, and some are questioning their gender identity or gender roles. Join us to share stories and perspectives, and to get support. No autism diagnosis or certainty about gender identity is required to attend. This is a safe place to explore intersecting identities.

Focus Share Group

Children participating in FOCUS activities range in age from birth through 29 years old and have lifelong developmental and/or physical disabilities. Some common diagnoses include but are not limited to cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, spina bifida, degenerative illnesses, and rare genetic syndromes.
BENEFIT
Share Groups are free support groups for parents and meet monthly (September to May) in several locations around metro Atlanta so parents can meet other parents and share tips, fears, and joys. Support Groups also called Share Groups are the backbone of FOCUS, the first program ever offered. Parent volunteers facilitate the groups, keeping them positive, constructive, and uplifting.
