  • How to Support Your Child’s Vocabulary Development

    Fostering vocabulary development helps children with the acquisition of language. Language acquisition supports literacy skills as young children grow and develop. Participants will come away from this session with ways to incorporate language and vocabulary instruction in the home to support their children in the early and elementary grades. Presented by the Mid-West Family and Community Engagement Center.. Many of the programs at Starbridge are funded through the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). We are required to maintain documentation which shows that individuals who receive services are eligible for those services. Your information is kept confidential.   • How to do an IEP document review

    Is your child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to their individual needs? Parents and guardians are invited to join us for this workshop where they will explore the process of doing a special education document review. It will include pointers on how to read the evaluation report and the IEP with an emphasis on the importance of progress reports. Understanding how these documents work together can help build confidence that a child’s IEP is meeting their needs or clarify areas of concern that can be discussed in an IEP team meeting.

    If an ASL interpreter is required, please notify workshops@pacer.org at least 48 hours prior to the workshop. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

  • Post, Share, Amplify: Turning Social Media Stories into Assistive Tech Advocacy

    The Mid-Atlantic ADA AT Champions Program equips young adults with disabilities to use social media as a strategic tool for Assistive Technology (AT) advocacy. Through mentorship, collaboration, and skill-building, participants develop and share authentic stories to increase awareness and understanding of AT. This webinar will highlight the program’s model, key lessons learned, and the measurable impact of online storytelling. Presenters will also discuss considerations for organizations interested in developing or adapting similar youth-led digital advocacy initiatives.
