  • Post School Outcomes

    What happens after students with disabilities leave high school? Join us for a webinar designed to help families understand the transition to adulthood and how schools and families can work together to support a successful future.
    During this session, we’ll explore post-school outcomes like employment, continuing education, and independent living, and why this information is important for improving transition services. We’ll also break down Georgia’s Indicator 14 survey, what it tells us about students’ experiences after graduation, and how schools use this data to strengthen transition planning.
    Families will leave with practical ideas for supporting their student’s goals, building strong partnerships with schools, and connecting with community resources early so students are better prepared for life after high school.

  • Beginner Dungeons & Dragons Group for Adults

    Come learn the basics of tabletop roleplaying from an experienced Dungeon Master. During this 8 week campaign of Dungeons and Dragons using the D&D 2024 Handbook you will be guided through an adventure that will introduce you to the gameplay and storytelling of the world’s most popular roleplaying game! This is a great way to get involved in a new hobby that will give you the skills and confidence to join games with more experienced players and open the doors to a huge community.

    No previous tabletop gaming experience required. Players will need to be able to simultaneously use zoom and navigate D&D Beyond (website), with verbal and written directions. If you are unsure if this group is a good fit for you, or you are in need of specific accommodations, please email groups@aane.org.

    Please note that these dates are subject to fluctuation. You will have one set up 1:1 meeting with the facilitator and 7-8 group meetings of game play.

  • Mahjongg 101

    Join us for Mahjongg 101, a fun and engaging introduction (or refresher!) to the basics of American Mahjongg. Together, we’ll unravel the mysteries of the tiles, decode the NMJL card, learn the art of dealing, and “dance” through the Charleston—plus so much more. By the end of the class, you’ll feel confident and ready to play!

    Choose one or more sessions and build your skills each week. This series is offered in partnership with Mahjongg instructor Rachel Timmer, and 25% of all proceeds will support Spectrum Autism Support Group.

  • Multi-Session Support Group for Women (40-60)

    This multi-session support group is designed for Autistic women (40-60) looking to build an ongoing connection with a small community of other women. This support group also gives women an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations and lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories.

  • Support Group for Parents of Transition Age Youth (18-22)

    Description

    This group is designed for parents and family members of Autistic transition-age youth (18-22). This group is limited to 15 participants for caregivers to connect with one another and share information.

  • Parent Support Group – Adults on the Spectrum

    Parent Support Group

    Spectrum hosts monthly parent meetings the first and second Thursday of each month featuring guest speakers who share their knowledge and expertise regarding a variety of topics related to the Autism Spectrum Disorder. First Thursday of the month meetings are offered Sept-May for parents of school age children. Breakout sessions are also offered for Dads, parents of preschoolers, and in Spanish only.

    Social Skills programs are offered at the same time for children ages 5-22. Childcare is offered for those under 5. Second Thursday of the month meetings are for parents of adults out of high school and for adults on the spectrum.

    Second Thursday of the month: A support group meeting for parents of adults with autism over the age of 18 who are out of high school. Social Support group is offered for adults out of high school with higher ability level or Asperger's. No childcare is offered.

  • Autistic Adults Social Groups

    This group focuses on adults that are looking for a positive and safe environment to foster social development. The group meets twice a month (once at the Spectrum meetings and one social outing a month) with 1-2 adult leaders who are trained in helping people on the Autism Spectrum. Adults who have HFA/Asperger’s Syndrome and are reaching out for help and/or seeking friendships with people with similar issues and interests are welcome!     Members of this group need to be out of high school in order to join the group. Our current members are generally high school graduates, attend college, or are working. Those attending the outings must be able to do so with minimal supervision (1 to 10).
